Secret Sessions, For Women, By A Woman.

Secret Sessions are photographed by me — a mother. a woman.

I come into these sessions with lived experience. I know what it feels like to move through the world in a body that’s changed. I understand the tenderness that can come with being seen. I understand the desire for privacy, for gentleness, for not having to explain yourself.

These sessions aren’t about performance or perfection. They’re about trust. And trust is built when you know the person behind the camera understands where you’re coming from.

Whether I’m photographing a woman in her home in Highland Park, Mount Washington, South Pasadena, Pasadena, Silver Lake, Eagle Rock, or Glassell Park, the approach is always the same: slow, respectful, and deeply intentional. I show up as a fellow human first. A woman who knows what it means to hold many identities at once. A mother who understands how layered our relationships with our bodies can be.

There’s no rushing. No pressure to “look” a certain way. No expectation that you arrive confident or carefree. You’re allowed to be nervous. You’re allowed to be quiet. You’re allowed to take up space exactly as you are.

Secret Sessions are photographed on instant film, which means there’s no editing, no retouching, and no digital files stored anywhere. The photographs don’t live on a computer or in the cloud. They exist physically, developing right in front of you, and then they belong to you.

That level of privacy is intentional. As a mother and a woman, I know how important it is to feel safe — not just physically, but emotionally. These sessions are designed so that the only eyes that ever see the images are yours (and mine, briefly, while I hand them to you).

Photographing women this way — in their own homes, in familiar spaces, without an audience — feels like a quiet collaboration. It’s less about directing and more about witnessing. Less about creating something new and more about honoring what’s already there.

Secret Sessions aren’t about becoming someone else.
They’re about being met where you are.

And I don’t take lightly the trust it takes to invite someone into your space, your story, and your body. That trust is the foundation of everything I do.
